Caterpillar Tracks - Scrape the Summer

Caterpillar Tracks están de vuelta con un nuevo lanzamiento titulado, Scrape This Summer. Estas nuevas canciones muestran una escasez de buen gusto con un enfoque más maduro para escribir canciones, en comparación con la brutal primera oferta de la banda. El ataque y la intensidad de su original sonido, sigue siendo cierto, sin embargo, se ha prestado más atención a la dinámica y el estado de ánimo. Un poco de influencias new wave /post-punk (Gang Of Four, Mission Of Burma, The Cure) también se han introducido en la mezcla, con guitarras angulares y una poderosa sección rítmica. Caterpillar Tracks are back with a brand new release titled, Scrape The Summer . This is the follow-up to their S/T full-length album (released August 14, 2004) which was the band s debut and, coincidentally, the debut of Phratry Records. Since Caterpillar Tracks debut, they have remained busy writing and playing as much as possible. With three US tours under their belt, covering the Midwest and East Coast regions and a brief tour through Germany and the Czech Republic (and a lineup change to boot) they have pressed forward these last few years, building their chops and growing as a band. The result is this new 5-song EP. The sound of this new record is simpler and more immediate than Caterpillar Tracks robust debut. Scrape was recorded live (with minimal overdubs), mixed and mastered over the course of two weeks. These new songs exhibit a tasteful sparseness with a more mature approach to song writing as compared to the band's first brutal offering. The attack and intensity of their original sound remains true however, more attention has been paid to dynamics and mood. A bit of a new wave/post-punk influence (i.e. Gang Of Four, Mission Of Burma, The Cure) has also crept into the mix of the swashbuckling, angular guitars and bulldozing rhythm section. The lyrics/vocals deliver a barrage of sociopolitical criticism with a primal and animated insistency but destroy what is currently passed-off these days as "emo". Scrape The Summer was recorded by Ampline/Thistle guitarist Mike Montgomery at Cincinnati s Candyland Studio. It was mastered by Shellac s Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The cover art is an interpretation of the EP s title and was by painted by Robyn Roth (aka Nomadical) of Phratry Records Knife The Symphony.
